Babar Azam presents ODI cap to Saud Shakeel - PCBAfter Pakistan's middle-order batter Haris Sohail suffered an injury ahead of ODI series against New Zealand, fans raised their voice for the inclusion of Saud Shakeel in the squad. Meanwhile, a week-old interview of national chief selector Haroon Rashid started doing rounds on social media in which he said they don't feel the need of Saud Shakeel in the ODI squad. Saud, who has played five ODIs since his debut in 2021, hasn't got consistent chances in the 50-over format. However, he recently proved his worth in longer format by helping Pakistan save a Test against New Zealand in Karachi. "We don't feel the need of Saud Shakeel in ODI squad at the moment," Haroon had said at the start of the ongoing home New Zealand tour.

"We have sent him to county cricket and monitoring him. In fact, we are monitoring every player," he had said. It must be noted here that Haris had suffered injury during team's training session at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi ahead of first ODI of five-match series. Haris, who was retained in national ODI squad from last series against New Zealand in January, has got an injury in his shoulder.

During fielding drills, Haris was involved in a collision with Shadab Khan and hurt his shoulder and underwent scans at a local hospital. He missed first ODI on April 27 following medical team's advice.
